Juillet – saison des vacances

Ahhh!!!! – more sunshine – that is so much nicer. Don't the months just fly by, and now we have had the 7th meeting which was as much fun as the first. Although fewer people in attendance due to the holiday season, it was still a well attended night with some new faces. Cor and Dennis, a Dutch father and son who delighted us with a couple of songs – well done guys – hope to meet you both again. Alan, a friend of Lynn, who played some excellent jazz guitar which was impressive, come back anytime you are in France. Good to see some of the regular memebers developing too. Mike Cain brought along his semi acoustic Ibanez and played a selection of Beatles songs that he does so well. Malcolm debuted his electric guitar along with Eric on electric bass an sounding good, look forward to more.

Sorry Eric, I just love this photo of you. You should be proud of your performance. I am wondering what instrument you will arrive with next! As for me, I am enjoying the challenge as of getting to grips with some new songs for each meeting and if you didn't notice at the last meeting, playing my latest acquistion – a Fender TC 90 – which I simply love. I have not deserted my beautiful Gretsch, but it is my new love for now! For the guitar players out there, I have been lucky enough to acquire a couple of Fender pickups from Keith which I have fitted to my Fender Squire Strat. The difference they have made is quite amazing and it sounds so, so good. It wasn't too bad before, but now !!!!!! It appears that we "The Fabuleaux Tartiflettes" will be playing at a BBQ at Banana Parc, Orsennes on the evening of Saturday 6th September. Our first serious gig, and so exciting, can't wait. The "stage" overlooks a swimming pool sourrounded by decking and sand, with a backdrop of open greenery. You could be forgiven if you momentarily thought you were on the beach somewhere.
